2026 Open Juried Show
OJS General Information
- Exhibit Dates: March 30th through May 25th
- Exhibit Location: Bangor Public Library, Cyr Gallery & Minsky Lecture Hall (3rd floor)
- Artists’ Reception & Award Presentation: Thursday, April 9th, 6 pm to 8 pm
The Bangor Public Library will receive a 20% commission from the sale of any artwork exhibited in the OJS.

Exciting Updates to Our Award Categories!
We are thrilled to announce updates to our 2026 OJS award categories. These changes were necessary to more accurately represent the diverse artistic expressions and creative practices of this year’s artists, as well as to align more closely with current trends in the art world. NEW Award Categories*
- Painting: Acrylic, Encaustic, Gouache, Oil
- Watercolor: Watercolor only
- Works on Paper: Charcoal, Drawing, Graphite, Pastel, Pen & Ink, Printmaking (originals only, no photography)
- Mixed Media: Assemblage, Collage, Fiber Art
- Sculpture: 3-Dimensional in-the-round, Relief (over 2 inches in depth)
- Honorable Mention: All categories combined (three winners)
- Best in Show: All categories combined (one winner)
First Place, Second Place, and Third Place will be awarded in the Painting, Watercolor, Works on Paper, Mixed Media and Sculpture categories. In addition, there will be three Honorable Mention awards and one Best in Show award.
*BAS reserves the right to reassign artwork into different categories as necessary.
